Welcome note from IFCC/ISNS
Shaping Nepal’s roadmap for healthier beginnings through newborn screening.
On behalf of the International Society for Neonatal Screening (ISNS) and International Federation of Clinical Chemistry (IFCC) Task Force on Global Newborn Screening, we warmly welcome you to the upcoming Newborn Screening Program in Nepal to be held on 7th–8th November 2025 in Kathmandu.
This two-day event will bring together government leaders, professional societies, clinicians, and international experts to discuss the urgent need for newborn screening in Nepal, review current progress and challenges, and explore feasible models for implementation. The program is designed to foster collaboration, share global and regional experiences, and shape a national roadmap that ensures timely diagnosis and care for newborns at risk of preventable disorders.
Day 1 will feature a close country meeting with key national stakeholders to review priorities, challenges, and potential pathways for establishing NBS. Day 2 will host a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program titled “NBS in Nepal: Early Diagnosis Matters”, with expert contributions from Nepal, neighboring countries, and global leaders to provide practical insights for implementation.
We look forward to your active participation in this important initiative. Together, let us work towards giving every child in Nepal the healthiest possible start in life.
